This is a very good article, and as I read it a I see that the data is out and most informed people are aware that these punitive, restrictive, abusive laws are not effective, that they are detrimental to society and make the public less safe. Forcing people into homelessness and a lifetime of shame and banishment over an incident that may have happened years in the past does not do any good (accept that it makes Ron and Lauren book feel some sense of righteous vengeance). But yet this counter productive insanity continues even though the facts state it is detrimental to all. I would guess that it is only a matter of time through court victories and public awareness that it will ease. But it only takes one serious offense in the media to set it all back.
1. The writer states a re-arrest rate, which could be for anything (trespassing, shoplifting, etc), not a sexual offense recidivism rate which would be notably lower ( specifically, less than 1%).
2. For what it’s worth, Jacob Wetterling was 11*, not 7, when he disappeared. And there was no evidence that Adam Walsh was sexually assaulted.
So, for horrible acts done to a few children over 30+ years, a million plus people must suffer daily on the Registries??

Again, this infers that ALL these homeless s$x offenders are “child sex offenders”. Did they look up everyone’s crime in the homeless camp and verify that all of them had a crime against a child? Probably not! But what the heck, use this term to keep the fear going and the heck with the truth!
The Law is WRONG and is suppose to be STOPPED, even on the Streets….ACSOL AND ALL SHOULD TAKE A STAND EVERYWHERE!!!
Thats the Truth and thats what should be happening…the Law had No RIGHT TO FORCE ANY OF THESE CRIMES AGAINST ANY PERSON/S ESPECIALLY A REGISTRY…etc…etc…
It was/is idiotic to implement a Law that puts ex criminals lives in danger by giving unfettered power in the hands of an angry public, while these same Governing powers stand by exclaiming its important, its not meant to do harm, its whatever…!!!
Surely, The Law has no EXCUSE FOR ALLLL THE DAMAGE IT HAS/WILL /IS CAUSING, WHILE VIOLATING EVERY EX INMATES RIGHTS !!!
